HISTORICAL REINTERPRETATIONS

THE TALE OF 'LÖWE'

The roots of the "Löwe" reach back to the 18th century and tell the story of the transformation of the village of Hard over generations. On the site of the former Hard customs house and inn, the traditional "Löwe" inn was built at the beginning of the 19th century, and for many decades it was a defining part of village life.

After the Second World War, the building initially served as accommodation for French soldiers before being acquired by Count Hoyos and extensively revitalized. Until 1983, the banquet hall in particular formed the social center of Hard. However, with the closure of the inn, the "Löwen" gradually lost its importance and was later used temporarily as refugee accommodation before finally standing empty.

A place that preserves its heritage and shapes its future.

The "LÖWE + CO" project, in collaboration with Marte.Marte Architects, creates the perfect symbiosis between a historic building and a modern new addition. This unique combination unites the charm and history of bygone eras with the amenities and comfort of modern architecture. Through the partial restoration of the front facade and a revitalizing extension, the Löwe building is restored to its original splendor while simultaneously being adapted to modern standards.

A new building, which could also be described as a modern twin, is being constructed next door, harmoniously complementing the historic structure. The contemporary architecture and high-quality building materials create an appealing contrast to the old building, resulting in a captivating architectural dialogue. The clean lines, expansive glass surfaces, and well-thought-out floor plan create a modern and stylish atmosphere. The entire project is rounded off with a spacious underground parking garage. Parking spaces, the utility room, and various storage units are located here.
